Update
So sorry everyone! I couldn't sign in the past two days. I will be updating again soon. Until then here's some trivia: Snowy's french name "Milou" was chosen because an old girlfriend of Herge had a dog by that name.

Who is Captain Haddock?
Captain Haddock is a sea captain with a temper. He was the alcoholic commander of the merchant ship, the Karaboujan. He is a close friendof Tintin. He is the owner of Marlinspike Hall as well. (Bonus: He got his last name after Herge asked his wife what was for dinner and she said, "Haddock, a sad english fish.")
Not much else can be said about him. However there are a few theories about where he's from. Most fans say that he's english. Others say, because of the movie, he's scottish. Here's a middle ground for these fans and something to think about. He may be from Yorkshire. It's an area in England that's close to Scotland. Many, not all, people who live there have an accent similar to that of the scottish. Just food for thought. What do you think?

How old is Tintin anyway?
We readers of the series, think we know tintin very well. However, if you think about it, we actually don't. We don't know how old he is, for example. I used to think that throughout the series, he was in his twenties. I bet many of you agree he looks very young so any age above the early twenties is not likely to be his age. Luckily for us, Herge gave us an age range for Tintin through the series. Herge said that Tintin is thirteen in the first book and nineteen in the last book. Tintin is only thirteen in Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and only nineteen in Tintin and the Picaros! That's young. That means for most of the series, Tintin is a minor, living alone! From my calculations he is fourteen in the Cigars of the Pharoh arc. Also, I calculate he is sixteen from Crab with the Golden Claws to Red Rackham's Treasure. I guess our young reporter was younger than I thought. How old do you think he is in books like Tintin in Tibet and The Calculus Affair?
